October 25, 2004 Commission to Meet October 28th BOISE - The Idaho Charter School Commission will review five public charter schools at its meeting October 28 at Boise State University. The meeting begins at 8 a.m. with a brief executive session in the Hatch Ballroom in the Boise State University Student Union building. The charter school petitions on the agenda include: the state-wide Idaho Virtual Academy, Compass Public Charter School in Meridian, Falcon Ridge Public Charter School in Kuna, and the Idaho Leadership Academy in Idaho Falls and Pingree. Compass Public Charter School: The Commission requested Compass revise its petition for the October meeting. Many of the revisions were technical changes as well as a request for additional information on the school’s three-year financial plan. Falcon Ridge Public Charter School: Commissioners heard from founders of the charter school at its September meeting. While the Kuna School District expressed its support for the school, it referred it to the Charter School Commission because of liability issues. In addition to requesting changes to the petition, the Commission asked for more information concerning the district’s liability. Idaho Leadership Academy - Idaho Falls: The State Board of Education referred the school to the Charter School Commission after the Idaho Falls School District expressed interest in the Commission taking up the issue. The school appealed to the State Board because the district had not acted on the petition. Idaho Leadership Academy - Pingree: The academy is asking to be placed under the jurisdiction of the Commission as a virtual school. ######
