October 2, 2006 COMMISSION TO CONSIDER XAVIER CHARTER SCHOOL PETITION BOISE -- The Idaho Public Charter School Commission will hold a public meeting Thursday, October 5, at 9 a.m. The Commission will review the petition for Xavier Charter School, located in Twin Falls. The petition was referred to the Commission by the Twin Falls School Board. If approved, Xavier Charter School would initially serve approximately 270 students in grades K-8. The Commission will also consider a request by the Idaho Distance Education Academy to transfer its authorizing authority from the Whitepine School District to the Commission. I-DEA, which enrolls students throughout Idaho, has been in operation since 2004. In order for a transfer of authorizer to occur, the Commission, the district, and the charter school must agree. The meeting will be held at the Best Western Vista Inn at 2645 Airport Way, Boise, in the Sawtooth-Bitterroot Room.
